Handmade in Peru, these wonderful little scenes are known as retablos. They are a popular form of folk art in Central and South America and they often depict religious themes and scenes of traditional life. This particular scene is an example of how folk art updates to reflect contemporary situations, depicting here a modern day vision of the pandemic.
This style is common in Latin America particularly as part of Day of The Dead festivities.
